In vieuw of the current critical situation, and the continuous crackdown on the Tibetans inside Tibet by the PRC,
The ICT (Int Camp. for Tibet) Vrienden van Tibet, TCB, RTYC, and Chushigangdruk, have organised a hungerstrike
(Voice of America Tibet) Lhakar.org ea.

Demonstration for Tibet

Thursday 6 October 2011 - Place du Luxembourg 10H00-14H00 / Brussels

Crackdown in Tibet deepens
Brussels, 6 October 2011. There is a deepening climate of fear in the Tibetan areas of Sichuan province, as a result of the self-immolation of 5 young monks since March 2011.
On 16 March 2011, the 20-year old Kirti monk Phuntsog died after setting fire to himself, leading to the current crackdown in the area. On 26 September, Lobsang Kelsang and Lobsang Kunchok, both believed to be approximately 18-year old, set fire to themselves while shouting "Long live His Holiness the Dalai Lama," in a protest also held in Ngaba county town. On 3 October, 17-year old monk Kelsang Wangchuk immolated himself in Ngaba county town carried a photo of the Dalai Lama and was shouting slogans against the Chinese government when he set fire to himself along the main street in Ngaba county. He is the third monk from Kirti monastery to set fire to himself in the past week. Likewise, in nearby Kardze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province, a 29-year old monk named Tsewang Norbu died on 15 August after drinking petrol and setting fire to himself while calling for freedom and the return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet.
According to monks from the re-established Kirti monastery in exile in Dharamsala, India, pamphlets were distributed and posted around Kirti monastery and the market place in Ngaba county town a few days ago, stating that if the current security crackdown in the area were to continue, "many more people were prepared to give up their lives" in protest. Beijing has rejected calls from a U.N. human rights panel to provide information about the whereabouts of more than 300 of Kirti's monks who remain unaccounted for since the monastery was raided in April 2011. China's Foreign Ministry said only that the monks are undergoing "legal education."
On 6 October 2011, the Tibetan Community of Belgium and various Tibet support groups will gather in front of the European Parliament to raise awareness about the worrying situation in Tibet towards the European institutions, the media and the public.
The escalating situation in Sichuan is an indicator of the deeply repressive climate in Tibet today, and points to the need for the international community to make robust representations to China to address their failed policies, and to urgently allow monks and nuns space to practice their religion.
Demonstrators call on the European Union to adopt a public statement on these events urging the Chinese authorities to respect human rights in Sichuan Province as in all other Tibetan areas to prevent an escalation of similar acts. We urge the Chinese government to resume dialogue with the envoys of the Dalai Lama and to guarantee economic, social and cultural / religious rights to the Tibetan people.

European Free Alliance

PRESS RELEASE

Brussels, 6th of October 2011
EFA demands the EU to stand up for Tibet
Manifestation for a Free Tibet, EU Wake up!
An EFA delegation met today with Tibetan protesters and together with them demanded a more vigilant EU position towards the human rights situation in Tibet.
The EFA Party, the EFAy youth branch and a delegation of the EFA MEP’s office of François Alfonsi expressed their deep concerns and worries about the deteriorating situation for the Tibetan people, their culture, identity and unique way of life. As a consequence of the continuing siege of the Kirti Monastery and the suffocating restrictions imposed by the Chinese authorities, only this year there have been more than 3 cases of self-immolation, clearly manifesting the despair of the people and the tragedy of the Tibetan nation.
EFA not only speaks for the voiceless people of Europe but has always been actively supporting the Tibetan cause and that of many other stateless nations around the world who are facing injustice, discrimination and human rights abuses.
EFA MEP François Alfonsi demands,
“that the European Union stands up for Tibet. Each time, all over the world, when only an economic logic is followed, people of stateless nations and minorities suffer the consequences.
As EU, we cannot remain silent while a cultural genocide is being carried out step by step, day by day. We should take concrete actions in order to stop the Chinese large- scale violations of human rights.”

One more monk self-immolates in Tibet 3 okt By Sherab Woeser, Phayul

Norbu Dathul, 19 (left)Kesang Wangchuk He was only 17(right)

Shouting "Freedom for Tibet," a 19-year-old Tibetan set himself on fire in the Ngaba (Aba, in Chinese) area in China's southwestern Sichuan province in the eighth self immolation protest this year.
Chinese police chased Norbu Dramdul (left) as he ran in flames for a distance before they extinguished the fire, beat him up, bundled him in a police car and sped away, eyewitnesses said.
The condition of Dramdul, who lives in Ngaba's Choeje township, is unclear. The incident took place just before noon in Ngaba town.
Dramdul is a former monk from Ngaba's Kirti monastery under seige by Chinese security forces since early this year and from where hundreds of monks have been taken away to secret destinations.
Most of the previous seven self-immolations were by monks from the Kirti monastery protesting against Chinese rule in Tibetan populated areas and human rights abuses.

Stir
Dramdul caused a stir among the Ngaba town's pre-noon crowd Sunday when he set himself ablaze, shouted slogans and ran forward, according to eyewitnesses quoted by Tibetan monks Losang Yeshe and Kanyag Tsering from Kirti's sister monastery in Dharamsala, India's hill town.
"I heard loud shouts of 'Freedom for Tibet' and 'Let the Dalai Lama return to Tibet' coming from behind me. When I looked back, I saw a person on fire running towards us," one eyewitness said.
"As soon as I saw that, I was gripped with fear. His hair was burning and the back of his upper garment burned and fell to the ground in pieces. I could tell that he had long hair and was wearing pale colored pants."
"He did not fall to the ground despite being kicked [by policemen] who also tried to douse him with water."
Eyewitnesses said the police finally caught up with him, apprehended him and took him away in a car, according to Losang Yeshe and Kanyag Tsering.
A huge number of security forces were then deployed around the town center, bringing traffic to a standstill, they said.

Fasting
The latest self immolation protest came as Tibetans prepared for a day of fasting and prayers on Wednesday.
It is to display solidarity in the face of rising Tibetan protests against Chinese rule.
The Tibetan government-in-exile in India has called on the United Nations and “freedom-loving countries and people around the world” for increased attention to Tibet following the self-immolation protests.
“On October 19, 2011, the Central Tibetan Administration will offer day-long prayers and encourage all Tibetans to fast on that day as a gesture of solidarity with Tibetans in Tibet,” a statement said.
Beijing has accused the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, of violating Buddhist teachings by not condemning the self-immolations in which four monks have died.
“[The Dalai Lama] has said many times in the past that suicidal protests are not something he approves of or wants to encourage,” said Robbie Barnett, director of the Modern Tibetan Studies program at Columbia University.
“But he can’t put himself in the position of criticizing people’s right to protest, and he certainly can’t put himself in the position of saying these people don’t experience intolerable pressure … It’s quite clear that they do.”
“The obvious solution for this would seem to be for China to talk to the Dalai Lama,” Barnett said.
“They are facing a moral crisis, and he’s one obvious person—probably the only one—who could really help them with this."

Tibet : Other Kirti monks have died in unpublicized suicides

tue; 04/10/2011

The weekend protest and the self-immolation Monday heightened tensions which looked set to continue in Tibetan regions of China as the ruling Chinese Communist Party marked its 62nd anniversary in power. The protests came amid a continuing siege of the Kirti Monastery by Chinese authorities launched after monk Phuntsog's self-immolation death.A Kirti monk described the "suffocating restrictions" under which he and other monks at Kirti are forced to live."We cannot communicate with others, and have to get permission from the police to enter and leave the monastery," he said.In addition to the self-immolation protests, other Kirti monks have died in unpublicized suicides, he added, noting that he knew of two such cases himself.
"A monk named Jinpa, the brother of my classmate, killed himself with a knife. And a teacher named Jampel Gyatso died in a state of stress and frustration."
Similar incidents may have taken place in other monasteries in other regions of Tibet, he said.
Kardze has also been the scene of repeated Tibetan protests, both by individuals and by small groups, despite the threat of detentions and violent assaults against protesters by Chinese police.
Meanwhile, police in Lhasa had stepped up controls over the city's guesthouses and hotels over the holiday period, local business owners said.

Hu runs South Africa? Not President Zuma
4 October 2011

Vrienden van Tibet has joined with Members of the International Tibet Network, a global coalition of more than 180 Tibet Groups (1), condemns the government of South Africa for its failure to issue a visa to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama had been due to travel to South Africa on Thursday 6 October to attend the 80th birthday celebrations of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. In a statement issued today, the Dalai Lama's Bureau in New Delhi said "We are... convinced that for whatever reason or reasons, the South African government finds it inconvenient to issue visa to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.... His Holiness has thus decided to call off his upcoming visit to South Africa. And, he regrets the inconveniences caused to his hosts and the large number of South African public who were keenly waiting to receive him and hear his message."
"Hu runs South Africa?" asked Inge Hermans of Vrienden van Tibet. "It would appear to be Hu Jintao, not President Zuma. We demand that the South African government issue a statement concerning its decision, to prove that it has not kowtowed to China's over-bearing influence. In this matter, the South African government has behaved no differently from China, a country of secrets, lies and an iron fist." Inge Hermans added.
An example of those lies is the statement made in 2009 by Minister for International Relations, Ms Maite Nkoana-Mashabane who said that the Dalai Lama was more than free, like any other citizen of the globe, who would want to visit South Africa. (2)
"It's time for South Africa to reassess its relationship with China, and ask if it is worth the damage to its reputation that sorry episodes such as this have inflicted" said Inge Hermans

Chinese connection… to Gadhafi
17 Sep 2011

First Tunisia, then Egypt, and now Libya…

With each passing day the world moves further away from tyranny. Occasionally, the soldiers of peace suffer a setback, but eventually, freedom triumphs over oppression.

Last week, after four decades of oppressing his people, Colonel Gadhafi fled Tripoli, the Libyan capital. He is believed to be hiding in Bani Walid, his original hometown and now his final holdout.

In their rush to vacate Tripoli, Gadhafi’s security officials made a careless mistake. They discarded government files – including a military shopping list – near a garbage pile on the side of the road.
One of the partially destroyed documents found by a Canadian journalist proves that in July, state-owned Chinese military firms offered to sell $200 million worth of weapons to Gadhafi.

China’s foreign ministry has tried to claim that Beijing didn’t know about the offers. But these firms are state-owned and state-run; their executives are hired and fired by Beijing.
The fact that just last month, China was engaged in arms sales to Gadhafi, after signing the UN arms embargo on Libya in February, reveals the hypocrisy at the heart of China’s authoritarian regime.

Tibetans know better than anyone that Beijing specializes in signing a peace deal with one hand while pulling the trigger with the other.
There is no question that China’s leaders wanted Gadhafi to remain in power. Propping up other dictatorships not only advances China’s strategic interests in those countries, but also provides cover for China’s own authoritarian system at home and on the international stage.
This is why we see Beijing using its financial and political clout to support the world’s most bloody tyrants – from Burma, to North Korea, to Sudan, to Libya. The Chinese government has become the lifeline of dictatorships around the world.

However, the tide has begun to turn against them.

First Ben Ali, then Mubarak, and now Gadhafi… day by day, there are fewer dictators and tyrants left. In a world where the tide of freedom is rising against the dams of repression, China’s leaders know their days are numbered.

Ultimately, when people withdraw their consent to be ruled and become uncontrollable, even in small ways in their daily lives, no amount of military might or political force can stop them.
Since 2008 we’ve seen Tibetans harnessing this power by engaging in small acts of non-cooperation with the Chinese state. In this emerging movement lies the potential of a powerful popular struggle gaining a foothold in Tibet.

There is no denying that the winds of change from the Middle East are blowing over the Himalayas, and Tibetans are drawing inspiration from the Arab Spring.

As certainly as the life of dictators and “strongmen” come to an end, so too will the one-party rule of the Chinese government.

Ultimately, oppression in all forms is impermanent.

Another town in eastern Tibet is under siege - and your help is urgently needed.

Thousands of Chinese soldiers armed with tanks and cannons have locked down the town of Tawu, and at least three Tibetans have been arbitrarily arrested.

China's attacks closely follow the self-immolation and tragic death of 29-year-old Tibetan monk, Tsewang Norbu, from Nyitso monastery in Tawu County (Ch: Daofu) in Kham, eastern Tibet. All access to and from the monastery is being tightly controlled by armed troops.

TAKE ACTION: Sign the petition demanding an end to China's assault on Tawu and for the release of those detained.
China's leaders are trying to block the world from witnessing its crackdown in Tawu.
Help stop the campaign of terror by shining a spotlight of scrutiny on China's top officials.
The repression in Tawu must not go unnoticed.

Today is the last day to tell World Gold Council that Tibet's Gold = Conflict Gold

Read more about WORLD GOLD COUNCIL their new CONFLICT – FREE GOLD STANDARD

Introduction: Conflict-Free Gold Standard
Responsibly run companies, operating in a conflict-affected or high-risk environment can play a powerful and positive socio-economic role.
In contrast, stopping operations can cause greater instability as livelihoods are destroyed and economic progress stifled.
Where a mine is located in a conflict or high-risk zone focus moves to whether the company has the right policies, systems and skills to enable it to operate in conformance with leading international benchmarks.
The draft standard has three pillars: a ‘conflict’; a ‘company’; and a ‘commodity’ assessment.
The draft standard contains a demanding framework of benchmarks and prompts through which companies must assess the adequacy of their systems and analyse their impacts upon those around them. Their conclusions must be auditable.
The standard is underpinned by a declaration of principles which includes implementing companies’ commitment to: respect human rights; ensure that payments are not made, directly or indirectly, to armed groups; be transparent about their payments to governments; only accept gold from conforming sources; and to establish a credible and accessible grievance mechanism.

Ask them to remove Tibet's gold from market. Tibetans have been imprisoned, beaten, killed or disappeared for opposing mining.
Resource extraction has increased tensions between Tibetan residents & Chinese miners, resulting in escalation of human right abuses against Tibetans.
Huge mining with greedy would definitely affect the nature climates not only of Tibet but also of whole major Asian countries.
